International protection
Since 2019, Rights Georgia, with the support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), has been continuously implementing the project “Protecting and Empowering Refugees, Asylum Seekers, Humanitarian Status Holders, and Stateless Persons in Georgia.” The project aims to provide legal assistance to these groups and facilitate their access to essential services.
The project is carried out in two main directions: ensuring quality legal consultations and representation for refugees, asylum seekers, and humanitarian status holders; and supporting stateless persons or those at risk of statelessness. Services include in-person and remote consultations (including a 24/7 hotline), legal representation in strategic cases, preparation of legal documents, participation in administrative proceedings, provision of information on rights and services, monitoring of legislative processes, and coordination with relevant authorities.
The organisation pays particular attention to protecting the interests of vulnerable and marginalised groups, using national, regional, and international legal mechanisms. Additionally, it ensures the dissemination of information to both beneficiaries and the wider public, cooperates with international networks and institutions, and works to address systemic problems in law and practice.
